Lets say if half life is given as 5 sec(default) and asked to take interface out after 3 flaps... I suppose to consider suppress threshold as 3000 (default) and could configure reuse threshold to 1500.... How I could use Maximum duration to suppress an interface..... In doc CD its mentioned like.. "The default of the maximum penalty timer is 20 seconds or four times the default half-life period (5 seconds)". If I use 20 IOS calculate Maximum Penalty as 24000 how its calculating it..Please explain R1(config-if)#dampening 5 1500 3000 20 restart 500 % Maximum penalty (24000) is more than allowed maximum (20000). Reduce maximum suppress time.
