Hi Joe, Glad to hear you were able to make some ground in stabilizing your setup.
I've still not experienced any issues with the Dynamips frame switch, but I don't see any harm in building your own. I have tried the L2IOU switching image, and the one that can sometimes be seen "in the wild" is really bad. I really hope the image used in the TS section is more stable and works better than the older one that has been seen on the Internet. The "regular" IOU images can be OK but I do like Dynagen better where it can be used.
