I've been running ccp4 and other crystallographic applications on various AMD-based Linux boxes for over 10 years, using Redhat, Suse, and Ubuntu...never encountered a processor-specific problem.

We are trying to get a server with dual AMD Opteron 2200SE CPUs running Redhat ES4 OS. Does anybody have experience on compiling crystallographic programs such as ccp4, cns….on AMD powered machines? Will it be a problem? Or we should stay with Intel Xeon servers?

 Thanks,

 Tongqing
