Star is a drop in replacement for TAR, GNU tar is _not_ a drop in replacement 
for TAR and for the same reason, star cannot be GNU tar compatible at command 
line.

People who find that star does not behave 100% the same as GNU tar use non 
standard extensions from GNU tar.
