that is exactly what their job is. I would blame the administration for
providing the information in the first place.
It would seem to be a no-brainer that if you do not want something published,
then do not disclose it, especially to a reporter!

The White House gave that info to the NY Times in deep
background just to give it validity. The NY Times
published the name knowing damn well they shouldn't
have. The Bush admin messed up big time trusting them.
