I disagree strongly with the author and all of you who say that Kerry can
mention Mary in any context he wants.  It is in poor taste for Kerry to keep
using Mary's name and sexual orientation unless he has her permission, which I
doubt.  He has no right to bring up her religion, method of dress, nada.  It
has nothing to do with her sexual orientation, and everything to do with her
privacy.

Subject: Re: Cheney's daughter is gay

Because the administration, of whom this girls father is a major figure,
supports a constitutional amendment to specifically marginalize a
certain group of the population, of whom this girl is a not-so-secret
member.  Pointing out rank hypocrisies is par for the course, politically.

Andrew Sullivan had a very good observation on the different reactions
to Kerry's remark last night.  I'd just be parroting his points by
reiterating them, so here's the links if you want to read them.

In a nutshell, Kerry didn't do anything scurrilous, and the gasps of
horror from conservatives is another telling indicator of rank homophobia.
