I agree there's a problem, but I would suspect that it really depends on what he's being asked to do.
Just because he's called doesn't mean he's going to front lines as a combat pilot. There are thousands of administration positions for example that somebody with his training and injuries could fulfill. When the army first began recruiting women they were used almost exclusively as office workers and such to free up more "able-bodied" soldiers for combat duty. I've not heard of any official policy on this, but I wouldn't be surprised to find a similar tactic at work here: bring back anybody that can stand upright and give them a desk job. That way you can send everybody else off to combat duty. Of course that's just a guess on my part. I predict that we will see perhaps several measures allowing the military to fill non-combat positions with civilian personal. It seems to me an obvious step to prevent a draft.
