if that's the case then why are there significantly fewer hand gun and
fire arm related crimes in Canada, where the gun laws are extremely
strict and there is no carry and conceal laws (unless you're a cop or
similar you cannot carry and conceal).

Yet in terms of gun ownership about 26% of all households have at
least one firearm. There's an interesting review of the research on
