That's just not true, generally speaking. From just a very basic point of view, a language with typed variables will out perform one that is untyped, all other things being equal. (Variable type conversions will have to occurr at SOME point, right?) I think CF kicks ass, and it is very good at what it does. But the bottom line is, it does trade in speed in preferance to other advantages. > >> So your project was done on Monday, someone elses was done on Tuesday, >> and >> theirs runs faster. Not necessarily true. We just finished a very complex web based data acceptance center that accepts, parses, stores, and returns data formatted via XML. .NET's (and VS.net's) native XML support actually made development on this project easier, and the speed comparisons weren't even close. In this instance, the .NET costs were significantly less than CF, including performance and customer satisfaction considerations. > >> Again, rapid development is a great advantage, but it's not the whole >> picture. > > you are right. again i still see no benefit. but like most have > said, its about the > right tool for the right job. for a web based application, cfmx 7.0 > could and can stand > head and shoulders above ANYTHING else. Well, again, i'm not so sure about that. The app i mentioned above is web based...and .NET beat CFMX in just about every situation. So, really, like you said, it's whatever tool is right for that job. CF isn't always the winner, but it should never be outright dismissed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:194084 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
