Checking out a tip that someone might be a terrorist is not deceptive. It's something we both would want them to do, though we might differ on methods. Waving a list of names around of alleged terrorists, which proves to be primarily composed of poor slobs who overstayed their visa or sent their families more than $10,000... that is.
>How is that deceptive? Someone calls the FBI and says, "I think so-and-so >might be a terrorist." So the FBI goes and checks it out. Maybe they are, >maybe they are not, but the FBI still checks. I know this because I know of >a guy here in town whose lunatic ex-wife called the FBI and accused his >parents (of Middle Eastern descent) of being part of Al-Qaeda. It is >unfortunate that they had to go through what they went through, but that >isn't the FBI's fault, that is the fault of the crazy bitch that called >them. For the FBI to not investigate would be irresponsible, especially in >the post-9/11 world. >What you are describing is "rendition", and it is not legal or acceptable. It happens though. So why is this not a danger to civil liberties? >I understand that you believe the Bush admin is a bunch of fascists >hell-bent on destroying your civil liberties. I just disagree with you. I give you credit for generally being civil when you do so, though again, I boggle at the logic. Often....very often ;) >Two and a half years from now when nothing has come of all the noise and >Bush is leaving the White House, we can all have a cold beer and a nice >chuckle about it. And if people start disappearing in the streets, I will be >the first one to admit I was wrong and to protest the overreach of the >government. That is good but if you prove to have been wrong, by then it will be badspeak to say so. And you will love Big Brother. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:208129 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
