I know in Connecticut it is illegal to for stores to sell alcohol at
certain times on Sunday.
I was told that bars open early in the morning for this very reason. But
since I don't drink, I can't verify this to be true.
Apparently 'serving alcohol' at a bar and selling bottles of it at a
grocery store are different.
