It's WAY better. The average user is way more proficient and
"self-service" in about 10% of the time in my experience. Here's just
one example:

A group of ~50 teachers could choose a Mac or a PC laptop. They were
all advised by an outsider (me) to choose the Macs. ~40 took PCs, ~10
took Macs. The reason was all their friends and family told them Macs
couldn't run anything so they needed PCs.

Long story short, at 18 months, of the 40 that took PCs only 2 could
do more than follow step-by-step instructions posted on their wall and
many needed support to do that (various messages that would pop up
would perplex them).

The 10 that took macs could connect external drives, search and
connect to printers, run various applications, etc. Many began
sharing their Macs with PC users who abandoned their PCs.

In the end, all the PCs for this entire district were replaced by Macs
and admin costs dropped by 80%.
