Six or seven gamers on my Xbox friends list got PS3s when they first came
out. All but one dumped them within a short amount of time for that reason.
Nothing spectacularly different from the PS2. They also did the same thing
with their Xbox Elite (rip off) systems for the same reason.

Certainly possible. The PS2 was ahead of it's time when it was
released....the PS3 doesn't offer anything nearly as novel...it's just
another high-graffix gaming device with a bloated price.

It's hard to repeat the kind of innovation that was the PS2....
