Oh! Drug dealers have a *ton* of leverage with ADAs. The sad thing is, an upstanding citizen makes a mistake and technically commits a crime, he has nothing to work with. A drug dealer who purposefully commits a crime can work a charge down so far it almost becomes an apology, or have the commission of an act deemed unchargable. The dealer knows things the ADA needs to close bigger cases; the ADA needs to close those cases so his boss can get reelected or at least face a quarterly commission with his division's stats.
That's only a portion of the reality of it all. You wouldn't believe the games they play, and how they couldn't care less who they pin a charge on as long as the "right" people get the credit and the conviction rate stays high. So basically you're not even a statistic; you just roll-up along with everybody else into someone else's statistic.
