Actually the widget is pretty good in my experience, but it's "gray" in
areas.  For example when Vista came out it said my printer was fine - which
it was, but the printer is an all-in-one and HP had a partial driver.
Printing and scanning worked but faxing didn't.  Not really MS's fault but
it was annoying.

All I'm really saying is that you should also visit your peripheral vendors
and see what they have to say.  Sounds like a Dell so make sure that your
network and sound chips are supported (they should be, but it never hurts to
check).

The core PC seems perfectly suited to Vista - should treat you nice.  Just
make sure that you upgrade the Video Card drivers from the vendor (but you
knew that, didn't you?)  ;^)  The ones in Vista will function just fine but
nVidia has been steadily improving performance under Vista.
