I tend to chop off my sig. on threads/messages that are clearly personal
discussion/viewpoint threads (as much of this list tends to be) rather than
professional ones to make clear that my opinions are personal and have
nothing to do with professional business.

As for knowing/working with someone who I have serious disagreements about
on issues like politics, as long as they conduct themselves in a reasonable
manner in the workplace, I don't have an issue with people having different
opinions. That's what personal freedom is all about. I'm far more interested
in talking and working with people who are informed and intellectually
engaging than people who merely agree with me. Where is the fun in that?

As for running for office and having a record online, I thought about
running when Duke Cunningham was kicked out of office in my district.
Whatever I've said is in the public record and I'm fine with it. My bigger
concern is that my district is more conservative than I am (believe it or
not), especially on issues like immigration, where I am more or less on the
same page as Bush in wanting to see a guest worker program to bring all the
gray market labor into the regular economy.
