two comments.

#1 - no way in hell would I approve of my daughter texting while in
class.  You are there to listen to the teacher, and do you work, not
text with friends.

#2 - Like others have said, I'd be in the principal's office demanding
MY phone back, and threatening to file charges.  Confiscate and return
to parents - if requested.
