I actually *have* a Biology major and went to vet school for two years. I
really love biology and the medical sciences and was one of those deviant kids
that even found organic chemistry fun and breezed through it. Straight A's in
honors chemistry, not a problem. I got early admission to vet school and
learned what hard work and constant studying *really* was like. What I found
though is that I really don't like jobs where I am constantly dirty, smelly,
getting kicked, stepped on, bitten, scratched, or basically just in fear for my
life. I did some high school teaching for awhile, and worked for a number of
years as a lab tech, but it didn't take me long to switch to computers. My Dad
worked for the Defense department, and I grew up around computers and was
programming my calculators in Basic as long as I could remember. Of course, I
was doing stuff like the equations for doing cell splits and plating cell
cultures, etc. but enough to know it was something I was good at and enjoyed
doing. Wasn't much of a jump to go from that into computer science, and the
rest is history! ;-)
