Oh come on, I'm so tired of this "We aren't doing any good" rhetoric. We are
doing a tremendous amount of good. The fact that the Iraqis are considering
a timeline for us to leave is a testament to how much good we have done. You
can't accept the truth of the effect without acknowledging its cause.

We have spent years, thousands of lives, and hundreds of billions of dollars
to free Iraq from tyranny and give Iraqis a chance to live in a free
country. The strength of the Iraqi government, their successes in Basra,
Sadr City, and Mosul, and their movement toward unity and internal peace
stem directly from the efforts of U.S. and other coalition nations and the
great sacrifices we have made. Iraq will be a free country because Iraqis
choose freedom over tyranny, but that freedom would not be possible without
us.
