I think the U.S. military command shares your skepticism. I agree with the sentiment that if the Iraqis believe they are capable, it's their country and we should let them stand on their own. I would still negotiate what the timeline looks like, as well as account for contingencies that might push back or move forward the timeline, but this is what we wanted all along, let's work with them.
