The FAA did put out a memo to the FBI and local law enforcement. The memo
said for this stunt to be kept secret and not to be release to general
public because it was cause panic in New York.

Air Force One was suppose to do another photo op on Thursday in DC. Needless
to say, that was cancelled.

I disagree. I think it was a great idea. It forced everyone together in
condemning it. It showcased the lack of communication coming from the
government. It showcased the waste of money by the government on frivolous
things in an economically trying time. I even expect the UN to join everyone
else and condemn the US for it (except for the human rights council, who
will condemn Israel). Yes, even Iran will sit with us and think it was a bad
idea.
That makes it a good idea.
