Diabetes, both 1 and 2 are autoimmune diseases...the primary difference, mechanically speaking, is that type 1 is usually indicative of the pancreas no producing enough insulin and type 2 is usually indicative of a properly functioning pancreas with the body developing a resistance to the insulin.
