I have a buddy that I mentor as a CF developer who is from Brazil. He just
hit his 10 year mark earlier this year and because of some minor problem
with his paperwork, he now has to start all over in the process to become a
citizen. There is no good reason to make it take 10 years. The immigration
system need to be overhauled and made much more efficient. Set a level of
standards that an immigrant has to meet in order to be a citizen, but if
they can meet those requirements in 2 years, more power to them. There is
no reason that they shouldn't be able to go down to the local immigration
office and have a new green card printed up...if they can do it at a
driver's license facility, they can do that for immigration.

rationalize the visa system. The whole agency in fact. It's ridiculous
for it to take years to replace a stolen green card.
