I don't do any video editing, so I really can't comment there, but I
have tried iPhoto and it's ok. I honestly prefer F-Spot and Picasa on
my Ubuntu setup for managing photos and light editing. For heavy
editing, I use Gimp. I use Gimp and Picasa on the Windows setups as
well. I think they are great photo management apps.
