Personally I'm taking what they say at face value. I just don't think it's going to be possible for them to get that message across in our current social atmosphere in the way they're going about it.

This is their stated aim, and it's part of why the location is important. Now, as a Christian, Jew, or other.....do you accept this explanation, or do you say "That's BS, find somewhere else....you make us uncomfortable." We claim, as (predominantly) Christian Americans that we understand the difference between Islamic radicals, and their moderate counterparts....we fight only the former, and we purport to want to prop up the latter.
