I've never understood why being "passionate" was such a good thing...?
Generally, people who are "passionate" over an idea are combative,
obstinate, overly emotional and more likely to ignore evidence that
contradicts their position.

If someone tells me they are "passionate" about something, that usually sets
off my Loon Alarm.

Don't we prefer people who make decisions "without passion or prejudice"?
Passion might not be such a good thing.
