This assumes you always upgrade.  I know plenty of people who skip a
version.  CS4 and CS5 are unstable enough that I have heard MANY
designers recommend sticking with CS3 ever today.

At home I have a very old version of Photoshop I paid for years ago.
Version 7 I think?  I open it maybe 3 times a year.  If I'd subscribed
I would not have that option.  Not for everyone, but it's a common
case.

It will be interesting to see how successful this model is.
