What makes them 'gorgeous'? Aren't they just hitting the ball across
the opposing team's goal line, like every other goal?

I do not buy your argument that a 'home run is just a home run', but
at least apply that logic fairly. If a home run is just a home run,
than a goal is just a goal.

There are as many variables in hitting a home run as there are in
scoring a goal - even a 'routine goal' (and given the infrequency of
goals in soccer, no goal should ever be considered 'routine')
