Santorum has quite the record. The left as you characterize it doesn't have to dig. Aside from Dan Savage's Santorum meme, Rick Santorum has sponsored some fairly nasty legislation that would actively discriminate against gays etc. Lets also not forget that the last time he ran for office in Pennsylvania he lost by over 18 points to a fairly weak opponent.
