I do not know for certain about the "about to be kicked out" portion but the rest of it is true. We happen to know someone who is in the same program at that school, though our friend and the shooter happened to overlap only in journal club, so no major insights there. Our friend was also at the midnight showing of Batman...fortunately, however, at a different theater.
