"We didn't have to kill ALL the Nazis to make them no longer a threat, and they
still exist the world over."

Nope.

The allies steamrolled their country and the people said no more.

Collateral damage was massive and intentional.

In WWI, Germany had no collateral damage. They were starved into
submission by a trade embargos and blockades. They were not defeated in
traditional battle. This was used to build up the nationalism that led to
WWII. Nazi's accused the previous leaders selling out the country and it
was easy to believe since no one actually saw any damage in the homeland.

That argument wouldn't hold up after WWII.

What is interesting is the rise of Germany inow. I have heard some people
say that the common market was supposed to prevent any country becoming
dominant over others. Epic fail.
