Some change is slow. Some change is fast. Giant asteroid colliding with the
planet was fast and certainly some life survived. Evolutionary events and
extinction events are really different degrees of the same mechanism.

Without taking a stance on global warming (or birds flying into glass
windows) I think it's very true that life will go on and quite alot of the
species will survive (on both counts).

In the case of Climate Change, I doubt humans will become extinct. However,
is it currently unknown if it will result in 2% of the
human population dying or 2% of the population surviving (or something
else).
