The Fourteenth Amendment says nothing of marriage. It does however address
discrimination. What you are looking for is a new definition of marriage.
If gays were prevented form having equal rights, as they do since civil
unions aren't equivalent to marriage, than there is a series miscarriage of
justice. This, I'm sure, everyone agrees with. That would mean they are not
bigots. The few that are against gays forming a civil union should be the
only  people addressed by Kennedy as being bigots. It really isn't any
harder than that.
