You are implying that the framers of our Constitution were akin to the people who jumped on the patriotic bandwagon just to wave a flag and join a cause. You are completely wrong. True patriotism is not about sticking a flag on your car (which is not even an approved way of displaying the flag as it is). True patriotism comes from the heart and is reflected in what we do every day. The types you are referrring to are "rainy day patriots" IMHO.
