Of course. I do have to give the guys before us a 3 up. Because first of all they lived in hard times. They were more well educated (a teacher at 14 yrs of age!). Had better discipline. THat's why they wrote an awesome paper. And their lives were in REAL danger. 9/11 attack was nothing compared to what they went through. They were tortured and starved and ordinary citizens had to put up a fight. Most of us could just put up a flag.
And you cannot deny that they were in a state of patriotic passion. We were too, except our were more superficial and short-lived because we're spoiled. But I just wonder if they would have written it different if they weren't in such a state of passion. Which is kinda weird to ask since they wouldn't have written it if they weren't. hehe. But still! -----Original Message----- From: Howie Hamlin [mailto:howie@;coolfusion.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 23, 2002 1:03 PM To: CF-Community Subject: Re: How free are we? You are implying that the framers of our Constitution were akin to the people who jumped on the patriotic bandwagon just to wave a flag and join a cause. You are completely wrong. True patriotism is not about sticking a flag on your car (which is not even an approved way of displaying the flag as it is). True patriotism comes from the heart and is reflected in what we do every day. The types you are referrring to are "rainy day patriots" IMHO.
