Larry,

I think you have some misinformation about SUVs.

Maybe spelling out the acronym will help out. Sport Utility Vehicle.

It was not ever meant to be a work vehicle.

A Ford F250 is not an SUV. It is a pickup truck. The pickup truck was created as a
work vehicle.
A Honda Accord is not an SUV. It is a passenger car. It was created as a passenger
vehicle.
A Dodge Caravan is not an SUV. It is a minivan. It was created to haul groups of kids
and groceries from hither to yon.

The SUV (past and present) is meant to bridge the gap. Hence the word "utility" in its
TLA.

And to go back in time, the Jeep Wrangler has its roots in the military "Jeep", which
comes from the acronym GP for "General Purpose", which I think says it all.

So to have people combine their passenger and work (hauling) needs in a single vehicle
is not an "evil" thing. It actually makes perfect sense in many parts of the country
where passenger needs and work/hauling needs are needed by the same family, and where
it is not possible or necessary to have two (or more) vehicles, one of which is a
"work" truck.

Just my .02.
