On Enterprise, it's the size of a really big PDA. It's that thing that
Hoshi Sato is always playing with whenever they meet a new species.
Inconsistencies like that used to drive me nuts. I've had to learn to
suppress the impulse to yell at the screen.
But this is, in my opinion, a minor fudge. Nowhere near as bad as my
favorite movie, Armageddon, where they even managed to screw up the gimmicks
they were using to let them screw up the laws of physics. Ugh.
