DOH! Maryland's Eastern Shore is a hard place to find a good paying job in the technical industry. Many of my friends from college still live out there, a few of them are making less than $1800 a month doing the same thing I do (i.e. not much over the minimum wage).
If you wanted to become the de facto dictator of some small town on the Eastern Shore, that is another thing entirely. You could put the seniors to work packaging mail-order ducks, and have a gang of goons go around and seize farmers crops. Every town has a city council, how hard could it be to stuff a few ballot boxes?
