My big problem with all of this is still the filters... we have a law that's forcing 
thousands of institutions to spend dollars on a solution that has not been proven to 
work.

Yes, there's many vendors so the wealth will be spread out a bit, but in the end we're 
(AGAIN!) paying money (public money at that) to create the illusion of protection and 
security.

The software does try, of course, but it's really ineffective enough to make the 
ruling ludicrous in my opinion.

It's yet another point in an old argument about the American need for quick fixes to 
all it problems.  Want no porn?  Here's a magic disc!  Want a new TV but don't got the 
cash?  Here's a magic, plastic card!

It's linked to why my HMO will pay for acupunture but not for birth control pills and 
why so many people believe that magnets in their insoles can help their feet or that 
pill can make their johnson into a magic johnson.

I think it also has something to do with reality TV shows, the "Summer of Shark", and 
the fact that we have a 24-hour golf channel...

...
