Well - now you're getting into derivative works. That's a whole 'nother ball of wax. In the end the corporations will sue whenever they feel they can get or keep and edge. I'm not thrilled with the Disney decision just because it changed the ruling of the law for a "special case". If the law were changed outright, fine - but to pick and choose with little guidance is scary. Burger King recently sued McDonald's because they began offering a "big kids meal" - something BK claimed was their IP. Apple has been working for years to prevent people making cheaper "clone" machines able to run OS-whatever. Intel has sued any number of people for reverse engineering their instruction sets Where is the line drawn? I dunno.
