That 1% was your federal or provincial income tax? What about GST? Do you have real property tax on vehicles and so forth? What about property taxes, how much were they?

Well, erm, any "public" welfare system would be, by definition, socialist... I don't think most Americans realize this, but Canada's public health system doesn't cover everything health related. Dentist expenses are not covered. Eye-related expenses are sometimes not covered (it's up to the province). Prescription drugs are not covered. Elective cosmetic surgery is not covered. Some operations, even if required to save your life, are not covered. Ambulance bills are not covered. And a myriad of other things... Anyhoo, third-party coverage for these things are offered by a variety of insurance companies. As for taxes, well, I paid under 10% of my income last year in personal income taxes. Mind you, I live in Alberta, where we have a 10.5% flat tax... And I socked away quite a bit of money into my RRSP, which is similar to a 401k. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
