don't get me wrong... I hate the MM forums. Well, "hate" is a strong word,
but let's say I dislike them enough that I basically don't use them. I was
only asking for a list of specifics so I could pass it along to the
appropriate people. I do think it's odd to comment that "it's not worth
your time" to let people know what's wrong but it is worth your time to
state that you don't like it and you'd like for it to be better.

Simon,
I wasn't really trying to bash, and FuseTalk may do MM's forums, but
it's not worth my time right now to try and mount a campaign to make
them any better. I was merely giving my opinion. And in my opinion, my
opinion can suck at times. Dismiss if it you want.
I don't want to use a newsgroup reader. I like logging into a forum and
using it. I like avatars. I like signatures. I like memberlists. Forums
can be a lot of fun.
I LOVE phpBB -- they are superb forums. I've yet to use one installed
that isn't great. (http://www.phpbb.com)
I also LOVE Invision Forums. Their robust features are even more superb
than phpBB. (http://www.invisionboard.com/) Also php. Also pretty fast.
Also VERY upgradeable and customizable.
And please. We make our living support Macromedia products. We love
CFMX, and we love working with MM. I just don't like using their forums.
Please don't take this comment personally ...
I guess I should apologize to FuseTalk now .... <shrugs>
Cheers,
Erika

I don't think they suck any more than any other forums...in fact I think
they're very nice. The problem is that there's no e-mail interface to
them... as email is much more convenient than a web-based forum. You
can
point a newsgroup reader at them... it's a bit easier than the web
interface, but not as feature rich. We at Team Macromedia are currently
expressing similar feelings about the forums and are discussing possible
options to remedy the "clunkiness" with Macromedia. In the meantime, I
do
recommend trying a newsgroup reader to see if that's better for you.
