Assuming a network speed of 1mb/sec, and assuming the DVD is a rip to DVD-R
that holds 6.4GB, it's roughly 14.5 hours to download.

A T1 is 1.5mb/s. A cable modem is typically up to 2mb/s, though I know
people with 5. My work connection is 3.7mb/s at this exact moment.

I know people who do download rips of movies, but they are even a small
subset of the larger goup that hangs out online. Probably a ratio of about
1:80 in a group of geeks.
