Not P2P, let's say there was a service that simply allowed users to
download movies legally and put the movies on a DVD for their enjoyment.
There are no bottlenecks on the movie side, the only limitation is the
bandwidth available to the user.
How fast could something like this occur? There would be a step in the
process where the movie is downloaded and a step where it is burned onto
the DVD.

Really depends. If you are talking P2P, then yes, due to the vagaries of
the system, it could take a minimum of 1 day to weeks. If you are
newsgroup savvy, then acquisition takes a couple three hours.
Not that I know anything about this, nor do I do it.
