Not everyone is educated about domain registrations Doug. There's a lot
of "dummies" out there and you should know that. ;)
Before we take on a client we always ask whether or not they have a name
registered yet and try to steer them in the right direction, butwe still
get a lot of people that have done it themselves, way before we ever get
to speak to them.
I'm sure it's this way all over the place.
Cheers,
Erika

Why in the world people allow domain registrations from these
off-the-wall
registrar resellers.
It seems that they are just asking for problems.
This said, there are a number of registrars who are trying to make it
really
hard to get transferred.
Especially with people like Registerfly.com (part of enom.com) are doing
transfers for $6.99 and extending the domain for a year at the same
time, and
then providing free name servers as well.
