It's set to employees only but will go public at some point (this year?). It's a
gig of space and you 'pay' for it by targeted ads. The ads are the fun part as
they are based on the text of the email. That means if you get porn in your
email, you're going to get porn ads. The possibilities are endless. :)
Actually, I think it's a great thing. Google would have to have redundant
systems so your mail is basically safe forever. A few ads are going to be ones
you'd probably want anyway so I can live with it. It'll also be a major boon to
both web advertising and Google's bottom line. When they go public, it can be
the 90's again!
I wonder if they need someone working for them to get open mailing lists like
Yahoo and Topica. Oh, what I could do for them. Anyone got a contact?
