The first uses ODBC, the second uses a JDBC driver that can talk directly to
the Access JET database engine. That driver is of course installed with CF.

Yes, this is the reason you have an "Other" option within the CF
Administrator. Read the documentation for your JDBC driver to figure out how
to build the appropriate JDBC URL, place the JAR file in your lib directory,
restart CF, and create the datasource with the aforementioned JDBC URL.
