Have you looked into the security features of Microsoft's SMTP server function?
The reason I ask is that it may present a zero dollar choice once you have the server, but it also may represent a huge target for spammer as a mail relay. Once they pounce on it and they probably will, your server can be blacklisted in no time . It's easier to change Static IPs or domains than it is to get off of all of the Blacklists. There are a number of Windows based Email servers that have a variety of security features against a hijack. I personally have not looked into the security features of Microsoft SMTP servers, but before you go through the headaches of connecting it, it may be worth a look. One suggestion: One thing I would check besides your firewall is check your Ethernet connection to see if it's going through a default router on your system and if that router is pointing at the IP address of your server. If there is another mail server on your system, you may have a conflict problem. That may mean changing the Port number in the registry -----Original Message----- From: Joy Paulose [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, August 05, 2013 4:28 PM To: cf-server Subject: CF9 server does not connect to IIS 7 smtp server I have been spending so many hours to find out why CF9 server does not connect to smtp server IIS 7 on localhost development environment. Disabled my firewall, but I have Microsoft System Central Endpoint protection enabled. I tried telnet to 127.0.0.1 25 and it did not work either. Port cannot be find. Does anybody know what is going on with IIS 7.5 on windows 7. IIS 6 on Windows XP and CF8 was working just perfect. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-server/message.cfm/messageid:7017 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-server/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-server/unsubscribe.cfm
