Ben,

So when can we expect this functionality?

All together now.... "Soon". :-)

I have already answered this publicly in user groups, so I might as well
answer it here too ...

No, the CF generated Flash forms do not support SOAP or Remoting calls
within a form, at least not this time around. Blackstone generates Flash
forms that function like (and can replace) HTML forms, and return data
just like HTML forms. You have some additional controls, new formatting
options, bindings between controls, some client-side events, input
masking, and some other features, but they are still forms that work
just like HTML forms.

To go beyond forms, full applications, server-side events (via SOAP or
Remoting), data presentation, applications (as opposed to page based Web
apps), ... that is where you'll need Flex.

In response to the question, I didn't hear anything about "remoting"
being built into the forms. I did hear that Blackstone will be able to
generate forms automatically in Flash and thus provide some built in
variable checking and error messages and such before submission, but
then the rest is just like a normal form. Maybe they're planning
something that I missed, but I didn't see anything about that.

That's what I figured. Talk generally, not in specifics. Gotcha.
