I'm a little confused. Your first post said "IE" then showed output with extra linefeeds. Did you mean IE as in for example, or IE as in Internet explorer output? You shouldn't see linebreaks in HTML output unless you enclose them in PRE tags, or use some other method. You should see them in notepad or your text editor.
